Classes

You will need:-

  • A yoga mat
  • Comfortable clothes to practice in
  • Two blocks or two similar sized books
  • A nice sturdy chair
  • A bolster or lots of lovely, comfy cushions
  • Straps are always useful but a dressing gown cord will do
  • A nice blanket for relaxation and eyes bags are good too

It is very helpful to fill out the BWY health form and send it to me before participating in the class so I can make the necessary modifications. If there are any medical concerns please consult with your health practitioner before starting this course. Medical forms will be kept strictly to GDPR guidelines.

For Zoom classes you will need:

  • To download the Zoom Conference app to your laptop or iPad.
  • If using a phone please ensure you can connect to a larger monitor so you can see me clearly.
  • When using Zoom make sure you position your laptop or iPad so you can see me clearly and I can see you clearly too.
  • I suggest placing your mat approx 6 feet away from your camera and making sure your room is warm and well lit unless weather and wifi permit you to be in the garden!
  • There should be enough space for you to stretch your arms above your head and around your body.
  • You should have enough room to stretch your legs apart too.

Sometimes the space we have at home isn't quite the way we would like it to be for yoga but just do your best and adapt as necessary.

DISCLAIMER FOR ONLINE YOGA CLASSES

A regular yoga practice is good for your health and wellbeing. It is considered low risk but can be physically challenging and carries with it risks that cannot be completely eliminated. These include the risk of personal injury, or the exacerbation of existing injuries or conditions, or damage to property around you during your participation.

Online yoga classes are live streamed to a restricted number of participants. During the class, you (or anyone else who comes into the frame, including children) may be visible to other participants.

Please note that although you appear on video link during the live stream of the class, the teacher may not be able to see you clearly or instruct you individually as is possible in a face-to-face teaching scenario. I will never record a session without the permission of all participants.

Participant observances for your comfort and safety:
• Your teacher is not able to express an opinion that you are fit to safely participate in any classes. It is advisable to obtain professional or specialist advice from your doctor before participating if you are in any doubt.
• It is best to practice Yoga in a clutter free space so you can safely carry out the poses.
• Check that the device you are using is securely positioned and will not interfere with your movement.
• It is strongly advised you do not partake in yoga under the influence of alcohol or non-prescription drugs.
• It is best to practice Yoga before you eat and leave at least 1 hour after eating before you partake in a class.
• Listen to your body, just stop if you feel any discomfort.

* if you are pregnant it is strongly advised that you do not practice yoga in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. You are most welcome to join after 12 weeks, please let me know so I can modify the class for you.
I highly recommend a pregnancy yoga class and can point you in the direction of a good teacher.

In the absence of any negligence or other breach of duty by the yoga teacher, participating in online yoga classes are entirely at your own risk.
